How the process works if your business needs help
If we decide to work together one of the first things that we will do is arrange either a face to face meeting or a phone call to go over all of the details in your business.
After we schedule an appointment the next step is we go over a series of questions to learn the details of your business.
- What is the lifetime value of your customer?
- What marketing activities have worked for you in the past?
- Who is your target market?
- What does your product or service serve or solve?
I like to call this the research stage. I believe that great marketing starts with great research and the more details that we can come up with together the better decisions we will make in our strategy.
After we go through a thorough analysis of your business we will then come up with customized plan for you and discuss our working arrangements.
How we determine success in our efforts
Because we work together in coming up with the marketing strategy we will also determine what the most important metrics are to track and then make that our focus.
Of course every business owners ultimate goal is to increase sales and revenue but that is the end goal. But we MUST remember in order to reach the end goal we must start with the process.
For example, if you plan on traveling to another city that is the end goal but in order to get there you must first get in your travel vehicle and choose the right vehicle and that is exactly what we will be doing.
So we break down what the vehicle is for your business that generates revenue then we optimize for that.
For some businesses it is a cost per click model and for other businesses it is cost per lead.
How we choose the right business model to support the marketing
In this stage we will go over the economics of your business and make sure that they support what we are trying to do.
We need to know if the way you are selling your product or service is the best way to do so in order to finance the growth of your business by the use of marketing.
What I see a lot of business owners do is they try and do paid advertising with a business model that just does not support the paid advertising.
For example, some businesses will be running paid advertisements for extremely low priced products but do not get the volume of transactions to support the costs and do not offer any type of cross sell or up sell therefore causing the business to lose money every time they run paid advertisements with no finish line in sight.
We want to avoid this problem at all costs so what we do is make sure that if you are one of these businesses that we create a more economical business versus just trying to get more customers when the numbers don't work.
How we determine what marketing channels we use
Every marketing channel is not created equal because not all customers are on every single marketing channel. Each business should use customized marketing channels based on their customer avatar.
That is why we go into such depth with research and questions. We want to know EXACTLY who we are trying to attract to our business so we know where to go find them.
Some businesses have a younger audience and some businesses have an older audience and based on several factors is what will determine what the correct marketing channel mix will be.
Choosing the right marketing channels can make or break your business because if you are marketing on the wrong channels it won't matter how much money you spend or how much effort you exert if your customers are not there then you will not be able to monetize your efforts.
How we determine the strategy and budget
So once we know who our customers are and where they hang out at the next step is to figure out how we will reach them and what our budget will need to be.
The way we determine our budget is based on what we think our conversion rates will be and what we are willing to spend to acquire a customer, what the lifetime value of a customer is, what our cashflow looks like, what our expenses are, and profit margins.
This is why it is extremely important to know what our numbers are so we can create a realistic budget and a timeline on when we should expect to see results.
If we take our time to figure out all of our numbers, what channels to use, and who our PERFECT customer is then we will give ourselves a very high likelihood of success.
This is what I find business owners are in search of...the confidence and assurance that their marketing dollars are not being put to waste.
